Every member of our community can grow mentally, physically and spiritually at the YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region. The Y’s programs can help you stay fit and healthy, whether you’re interested in weightlifting, cardio equipment, weightlifting or family fitness classes, kids’ programs, swimming lessons or group fitness classes.

You and your family can make a splash with Y Aquatics programs, which offer everything you need, from swim lessons to aqua fitness classes to family swim and advanced certifications. We can help you, no matter your level of swimming ability, to learn the skills and confidence that you need to be safe in the water and have fun.

Learning how to swim could save your life or that of someone you love. Taught by certified Y instructors, our nationally-accredited swim program builds confidence and competency in the water, at a pace of progression that meets individual needs.

Your membership includes swim lessons. You can learn to swim in fun and engaging environments. All levels and ages are welcome to take lessons. View our program guide to learn more about swimming lessons.

Swimmers can enjoy organized activities in the water, such as swim clubs and water sports.

You can make a difference in your community by opening the doors to volunteer opportunities and employment through the YMCA Aquatic certification programs.

You may be able to get employment at the Y or elsewhere by becoming a swimming instructor or lifeguard. Your future success will depend on your leadership abilities.
